Weight Loss
This page is an homage to how anal retentive I can be when I want to. Truth be told, the idea isn’t mine orignally, I got it from the Hacker’s Diet. I’ve completely re-done the spreadsheets, plus I’ve used Automator to update this page automatically.
If you’ve read the Hacker’s Diet these charts are pretty self-explanitory. Otherewise they might be a little cryptic. Basically, the blue diamonds are my actual weight. The red line is an exponential weighted moving average. This takes the volatility out of the data so I can pay attention to general trends rather than absolute numbers. As long as the trend is going downward, I’m happy.
Clearly I haven’t always been happy. I started at 377 and pretty quicly dropped to just over 270, which at the time seemed like a majorly frustrating plateau. I gave up and went back up a bit, then back down, broke 270 pretty quickly and plateaued again. After losing ground on another 30 pounds I’m back at it again. I’ve found that if I keep this chart up-to-date every day, it naturally trends downward without too much willpower spent on maintaining a diet or workout plan. The pieces just fall in place for me.
As you can see, I have a view of the last 30 days, last 6 months and the entire history since I’ve been weighing myself every day.
