Workouts week 26, 2007
Just a quick post to get this up here and checked off my list.
A place for brain dumps.
And now for last week’s logs. I was catching up on the previous week with the last post.
I’ve got the beginnings of a new system. I figured out the printer at work also happens to be able to scan documents and send me a PDF, which makes doing it really easy. I have to scan as A5, rather than classic, but I only lose a few millimeters at the bottom. So without further ado, here are the workouts I did last week.
I finally got a power cage as part of a whole set of stuff. I saw it on craigslist Thursday night, and it was in my garage Saturday afternoon.
So here’s what I got…
There’s some other misc stuff that I don’t fully understand. He had bought the set off of some guy who was apparently very hardcore. He had welded together some pipe fittings to be able to load plates on and work on his outward grip… i.e., put hand in the pipe and push out, then pull up the plates. Ow.
And last, but not least, a picture of all the stuff disassembled in my garage.
I need to duplicate the dedication I had in 2002 to make this year’s chart look like this:

Another week down when I don’t post mid-week. Not a big deal, except that I slacked on eating well this week. I only lost half a pound off the trend, and I’m actually up a bit on the actual weight. More training this week than last week, but not enough lifting… none, actually. A new PR for a 5K run, though, which is good.
This last week’s training was:
I’ll have to post what my triathlon planner looks like. It blows my mind how anal I am about this stuff. I’ve decided to embrace my ODC tendencies. Hell, in general tri geeks are way more anal than I am.
This last week’s training was:
Yep, I slacked. I think this is where it’s good that I’m tracking time spent rather than days that I “worked out”. Used to be that 10 minute morning session on the elliptical would have counted as a work out when looking back to see how often I was working out. I’m also up a little bit, but I think that’s fluctuation. I’m down 1 pound off the trend, so that’s good, at least. I just can’t let the momentum go away.
I bought a new bike, so I should be getting in a lot more bike time. Something about new gear that makes me want to actually use it.
Pictures of that posted tomorrow.
Yep, it came yesterday and I got to run with it Wednesday night. I’m pretty happy with it.
I didn’t get to do as much experimenting as I had wanted with the old rig, since it was getting late. I re-calibrated the Nike+ kit with the new holder and off I went to do my intervals. Really, it’s just as unobtrusive as the old shoe pouch so there wasn’t any difference during the run. I took note of the distance after the first lap, and it was basically spot on, .24 miles on a 400 meter track.
There’s only one drawback. There isn’t space to keep the receiver when the kit isn’t in use. I’m just going to keep the shoe pouch around to to stow it, and give me a place for my keys (on my other shoe) while I’m running.
It’s definitely worth the $10, especially when Nike doesn’t sell shoes that fit you.
