This article at Wired is just downright fascinating. Especially for me, a nerd with deaf parents.
This bit from the end of the article just show how Moore’s law, in some form applies to people, too.
“My hearing is no longer limited by the physical circumstances of my body. While my friends’ ears will inevitably decline with age, mine will only get better.”
It’s just a matter of time before the risks of surgery get less and less, and the benefits are more worthwhile. How long before we’re in the “cyberpunk” future? Maybe we only have 15 years left.
P.S. No, I couldn’t resist the cliché title.
