Google Saves a Hummingbird
I got home from work today and there was a hummingbird in the garage. 
Honestly, I had no clue what to do, and he certainly didn’t look like he was gonna figure out he needed to come down a good 8 feet to be able to clear the garage door.
Google to the rescue. Apparently this is a rather common occurrence. The Wikipedia blurb wasn’t all that helpful, since our garage has a 15 foot (or so) ceiling and there’s no way for us to get up there and grab him. But the information at hummingbirds.net did the trick.
We closed the garage, turned out the lights and let him land. It took us entirely too long to find him after he landed, but we finally did. After much chasing we got him contained and brought him back outside.
I’m not sure what I would have done, were this 20 years ago and there wasn’t something as handy as google. I think I’ll go update the wikipedia with more detailed information.
