Movies.
I just finished watching the Sci-Fi Channel movie Darklight. It wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be.
The all CG fight scene between two demony things was actually pretty well done. They had obviously motion-captured two stunt people fighting, but it looked a lot less cheesy than you would expect.
Last night I saw Blade: Trinity. That movie effing rocks. Hardcore. I think I might have to watch it again before Netflix gets their copy back.
One thing that surprised me was how ripped Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds were in this movie. It took me half the movie to place Ryan Reynolds as the guy from “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place” and Van Wilder. IMDB placed Jessica in “7th Heaven” for me (never watched the show, but saw the commercials). You expect Wesley Snipes to be stacked, but those two? Her shoulders, in particular, are practically as big as my head. Daaaaamn.
Finally, a use for podcasting.
I just purchased the MarsEdit and NetNewsWire bundle. I had been wanting NetNewsWire for it’s scripting ability, and I wanted MarsEdit for this site. I really didn’t think I was going to use the podcast consuming features of NetNewsWire.
Literally a day after I made the purchase, this comes across my feed reader.
An Alternative to Audio Books: OTR:
“I had a great way to spend the time, and one that requires little or no money: Old Time Radio.”
“It was only a matter of time before a group stepped forward to ready these shows for podcasts. Radio Memories offers several shows a week, covering a number of various genres.”

WRAL.com - Food - Candy Industry’s Latest Target Is Fitness Market:
“Candy for fitness enthusiasts may sound like a contradiction in terms. But it doesn’t sound that way to candy makers who are targeting people seeking to boost athletic performance or quickly grab a jolt of energy.”
It will be interesting to see what kind of ingredients they use for these things. Like if they actually use reasonable stuff, like maltodextrine, dextrose and maybe real sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup.
My guess is, it’ll be terribly expensive and just as crappy as regular candy, but with some vitamins or ginseng.

Wired News: Now That’s Exertainment!
This is a pretty rational response to an actual measurable problem. The article is decent, too.
Shin splints.
I take it back, they’re not almost gone. After soccer today blasted them pretty hard. Made a goal, at least.

Masturbation made me fat!
Lou Schuler weighs in on the diet pop study.
MALE PATTERN FITNESS: Comment on New Research Shows I Weigh 800 Pounds:
“My best guess is that this is the bottom line. Lots of people drink diet soda. Lots of people are fat. Lots of people masturbate. Good luck proving a connection.”

No late fees my ass.
I’m watching a blockbuster commercial right now. They’re touting the new “no late fees” aspect of their system. I hadn’t seen the fine print before now.
At participating stores only. Rental product kept more than 7 days after the due date is converted to a sale.
And the next little bit…
Sale may be reversed by returning the product within 30 days of the sale date and paying a $1.25 restocking fee.
What, exactly makes a “restocking fee” different from a “late fee”? Not to mention the $20 odd they charge you for the DVD itself.

I so want to see that. It looks so horribly bad that it’s flipped the counter and become good. Or, at least funny.
